Admission Process

Eligibility and Application Procedure
Admission the degree course 
The admission to the B. Pharm course (1st Year) at the Y.B. Chavan college of Pharmacy is done through the centralized admission process framed by the Maharashtra University of Health sciences, Nasik . However, for being eligible for admission, the application is required to clear the common entrance examination conducted by the university . Details and the application forms for the appearing in the common entrance examination can be obtunded from the office of the Maharashtra University of health sciences, Nashik.

Rules for Admission

1. The Data form enclosed in this handbook should be submitted to the address given below:
Y.B. Chavan College of Pharmacy,Maulana Azad Educational Campus, Post Box No. 33, Rauza Bagh, Aurangabad – 431001 . Candidates are advised to ensure that they fulfill eligibility and other requirements.

2. Application must be accompanied by :

a. School or College Leaving Certificate ( if the applicant is not a student currently) of Marksheet and a Provisional / Passing Certificate of the qualifying examination from the institution attended.
b. Certificate and Marksheets of any other Degree or Diploma examinations.
c. A Character and Conduct Certificate from the Principal of the Institute/School/College last attended
d. Birth Certificate

Note :

a. Failure to submit any of the above will lead to rejection of the application.
b. Original certificates must not be submitted with the form. Attested copies will do
c. If a student is granted admission he/she will be required to produce original certificate for verification, failing which admission may be cancelled.
d. A candidate who is found to have furnished false information will, I f admitted, be dismissed and will forfeit the fees submitted.
e. While at the College, pursuing full-time employment or part-time studies in any other college/institution is not permitted.

Qualifying Examination And Eligibility for Appearing In the Entrance Examination
To be eligible for appearing in the Common Entrance Examination, the applicant :

1. Must have passed the HSC Examination conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary & Higher Secondary Education, Pune , or an Emanation equivalent thereto with English as one of the subjects and with not less than 50% marks (45% m arks for backward class applicants from Maharashtra State only) in Physics, Chemistry and Biology(Taken Together) at one and the same sitting.
OR

2. Must have passed the Indian School Certificate (Std. XII) Examinations of any other Higher Secondary (Std. XII) Examination of a council or board outside Maharashtra State with English as one of the subjects and with not less than 50% marks(45% marks for backward class applicants from Maharashtra State only) in Physics , Chemistry and Biology (taken together) at one and the same sitting.
Applicants getting admission on the basis of the eligibility under (1)

Or (2) above should also have offered Mathematics as one of the subjects at std. XII . However, in the case of applicants who have passed std. XII from such Board/Council where Mathematics is not offered compulsorily as one of the subjects along with Physics, Chemistry and Biology , then such applicants [after being admitted to B. Pharma (1st Year) are required to offer the additional paper of Remedial Mathematics, along with their regular subjects of B.Pharm 1st Year.

 

Distribution of Seats
Out of total 60 seats, 30 seats are Free Seats and 30 seats are payment seats.
Annual University Examinations And Periodic Tests
The Marks of each examination are awarded jointly on the basis of the performance in the Annual University Examination and in the periodic tests. 80% marks in each paper are awarded to the Annual Examination and 20% marks are allotted to the periodic tests.

Out of the 20% marks allotted to the periodic tests, in each practical , 40% marks (i.3. 8 marks) are allotted by the concerned teacher on the basis of the student’s regular attendance, journal submission and day-to-day performance.

During each year of the course, for each theory subject, a maximum of 3 periodic tests are conducted and of this , the best 2 performances are sent to the University, before the Annual Examinations. However, in practical, only 2 periodic tests are conducted and the performance of both the tests is forwarded to the University, before the Annual Examination.

To Qualify for the Annual University Examinations
To qualify for appearing the Annual University Examination, the student is expected to have a minimum of 75% attendance in each theory subject and 80% attendance in each practical subject.

For passing the B.Pharm (1st Year) a maximum of 4 attempts is allowed . There is no such restriction for the B.Pharm (2nd Year)

A student who fails in any one of the subjects at the 2nd or 3rd Year B.Pharm annual Examination is allowed to keep terms for the next higher class but his result of the Annual Examination of the higher class of which he has been allowed to keep term is not declared, unless he reappears and passes in the subjects of 2nd or 3rd year B.Pharm in which he has failed.

Minimum Requirements for Passing
To pass Th 1st,2nd,3rd & 4th Year B.Pharm Examinations, the student must obtain at least :

1. 50% of the marks in each theory and practical head (excluding periodic test marks).

2. 50% of the marks in the University examinations in each theory and practical head (excluding periodic test marks.)

3. 50% of the total number of marks assigned to the whole examination.

Note :the theory and practical in each subject is construed as separate heads of passing.

Basis for Awarding a Class/Division

The division/class is given only to students passing the Final examinations and the same is given on the basis of the marks secured by the students in the Final Year examination. The division/class is given as under :

1. 70% and Above - Distinction
2. 60% and above but less than 70% of the total marks – First Class
3. 50% and above but less than 60% of the total marks - Second Class

Fee Structure :
 All fees are payable in advance of each year. Fees must be paid at the College to the authorized person only, in cash or through Bank Draft drawn in favor of Y.B.Chavan College of pharmacy and should be payable at Aurangabad. Money order and cheques will not be accepted. Receipt for all amounts paid must be obtained by the payee.

Hostel Facilities and Fees
The management of the Y.B. Chavan College of pharmacy has the spacious "Omar Zakaria Complex of Hostels " for boys in the vicinity of the College. The rooms are well equipped and the hostels provide mess and other facilities. A separate wing for accommodating over 200 students is earmarked for the students of B.Pharm since the B.Pharm course is a full-time course and its curriculum necessitates the presence of the students in the college for long hours, it is compulsory for all the students of the B.Pharm course to stay in the hostel.
